Between midnight thoughts

We were two cubes of ice fused together in the same tray,
Someone took us out the freezer.
Someone thawed your legs from around my waist
And pryed your heart from my hands.

We were two crystals set firmly in the same stone,
Someone chisled us apart.
When the light hits me I don't shine as bright in your absence,
they chipped away my lips from your cheek...

Now I am loose and shaky.

Siamese twins we were, joined chest to chest.
The marks of your nails, remain in my back.
Someone, surgically separated  us.
And as we lay on the operating table,
Our insides open...
I could see my rib, lodged inside you.

But its too late now to ask for it back.

Your metaphors were delightful.
