Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

Don’t stick your tongue on icy flagpoles;
it won’t come off and you will cry.
Don’t push your finger to a grinder;
grinders will sand them - there's no surprise!

Don’t ride bikes until you know their brakes;
you won’t believe how they will fly.
Don’t get angry and flip off the bird;
Mom’s wooden spoon hits hard and high.

Don’t flush your oatmeal down the commode;
it won’t go far and you’ll get caught.
Don’t hide boiled eggs in a cold cream jar;
when they are found, they stink like rot

Don’t bring home kittens until you ask;
(That makes Mom’s day go right to pot).
Don’t drive fast over those gravel roads;
Dad fusses and grumbles a lot.

This time is not as bad as it seems;
you need to hang on to your cool.
It takes time to find the path you seek -
for now, explore all the new rules.

Hello, m'dear Lasky Girl! It would appear that you know what you are talking about through your own personal experiences! Sound advice! I wish I had known all this before I had done a few of those stunts myself! ~ Like putting my tongue on a frozen flag pole!

Love and a big warm HNY hug,

Linda

Very Good, Alison,
I like the poem with all its personal references and the cool ending, very comforting and helpful, now I am going to read letter 2 and 3 for learning the following ideas .

Ali.
One day whe we were little, I decided it was too hot, and that something had to be done to stop the heat from coming out of the heater.  So at my direction, Sister put a quilt on top of the heater to block the heat.  Guess what happened? … Moral, don’t put quilts on top of heaters.
Wne day when Mother was gone, I decided to impress Sister with how strong I was.  I already knew I could pick up the house, So, to further impress her, I picked up and threw a huge rock over my head.  But it didn’t quite go far enough. … hospital … stitches … Uhhh.  Moral?  Don’t try to pick up houses with your bare hands.
And then there was a dream I had about a ski lodge … Moral? Be careful what you swallow; it might have strings attached. :-----)

Loved this Alison.  We sure learn the hard way sometimes, huh?  I wonder why it's so tempting when you are a kid to put your tongue on frozen metal. I don't know if I did, but I remember the warning to keep my mouth away from the water pump at my grandmas house.  Hiding an egg in the cold cream jar was quite inventive!  LOL... It must not have gotten used all that often for it to rot.   They say egg whites are good for your skin, but I don't think that is what they had in mind.

Loved your letter to you. So many funny things we did as kids. I remember licking the snow out of the sled runner. Not a good idea. latearrival

Hi Linder Lou,

I am not surprised that you knew about the tongue on the flag pole trick. It's a painful one.  I am glad that you enjoyed the poem.  I love you lots.

Hey KL,

Yep, the old ice and metal stuff, chills me still to think about it.  And the egg?  It was so danged gross -- oh, and the smell.  Ewww.  Thank you lots for reading and sharing with me.
