Fond Remembrances
by Linda L. Dowd

Pictures are reeling from yuletides past
and cast me in pink loving glow.
They’re soothing and fine as a sweet mulled wine
and soft as a new fallen snow.

While gazing into a pine log fire
with its stone hearth trimmed with red bows,
flames flicker upon frosted window panes
and dance from my head to my toes.

As I lie curled upon window seat,
where he pledged his undying love
~ I recall those times of togetherness
when I was his lone turtle dove.

But life goes on and now so must I,
though north winds have put out the fire.
I am warmed by my fond remembrances
when our twin flames burned with desire.

Only the warmest of memories
are stored in the sanctum of me.
By releasing those that had broken my heart,
all sorrows are lifted from me.

Laughter, the loving, and thankfulness
are held in the seat of my soul.
Fond memories of past glorious times
are healing and keeping me whole.

Pictures are reeling from yuletides past
and cast me in pink loving glow.
They’re soothing and fine as a sweet mulled wine
and soft as a new fallen snow.

Hello Linda, this is so melancholic and beautiful, it sounds like a life confession, like a look towards the past, it is a walk with authentic feelings and a walk in the sorrows of time, I enjoyed the poem and the charm of your words.

best wishes

Linda - I'm thinking it's the soft mulled wine, or the new fallen snow, or the fire warm in the fireplace that got to me. Nicely done...

Well heck, between yours and BC's poems, I am all in tears.
There's a pain in my heart after reading you, and yet your poem resonates the
courage and fortitude of life and loving, and the gift therein.

Warm hugs, Angel lady!!

As others have already 'hi-lited' several parts, I will simply state
that this is a very effectively emotive and poignant, 'write'
with seasonal imagery most fine!

Yann the Mann ~

Thank you for taking the time to write such a thought-filled response to my penning. Yes, my friend, those are my "authentic feelings". Poetry that comes from your heart and soul rings true ~ because it is.

Love to you, mon ami cher there in French Land!

Ah, yes! ~ A warming fire, softly falling snow, and ample measures of sweet mulled wine sounds divine to me as well! lol

Wishing you lots of that warm fuzzy 'schtuff' for you in 2010!

Your replies to my poems ~ and to those of others ~ are very special. You don't just read a poem ~ you feel it, interpret it (and always right on the money!!!), and then respond with such care and thought. Thank you Lori for this one ~ and those that you have written in the past.

May 2010 bring you love, peace, and joy.

God bless you,

Love,

Linda, you are a candle rare, and I felt every word of this poem, knowing the flame in that window takes a special match, and that there is one to match the glow of your beautiful soul.

Your pen dips to poignant penning like a dove dives from a winging glide to earth...

My dear Aussie Man, I dare say that you have a few of your own PPs ~ "Pinnacles of Perfection"! I thank you for that shining comment. However, it may take a lifetime of writing to ever get near the "pinnacle of perfection" ~ but I'll keep on learning, writing, and growing and who knows what I may accomplish in the years down the road!

Love you!

Suthern One ~

Yeppers! My dear Ruth! That is the trick! Somettimes it is easier said than done, but I do my best because that truly IS the BEST thing for me in the long run. I rather think happy thoughts than get bogged down in negativity. So by letting them drift away and only keeping the warm, positive memories, it is a win/win situation. I'm unencubered and free of emotional baggage and open and ready to embrace new experiences!!

Much love to you, my dear sweet friend!

Oh how this brought back the days when I was someone's "lone turtle dove." But life does move on, and so should we. Beautiful word pictures in this one. Thank you for sharing these feelings.
