over here sweetie
of course you, who else, sha
come to my Kasbah
you and your pretty face
walk with me
toward our Joyful Bayou
I'll pull your beautiful brown tresses
firmly, passionately, into the warm bayou water
we'd stand still
holding hands, listening to the swamp
like little children
we hear nature's call
a chirp over there
an old bullfrog's harrumph
long-stemmed egrets
fishing alongside the bayou's bank
soon there is a veritable orchestra
tuning up for our benefit
it's when the horned owl
commences with its whoo-whoo
that all the varmints and insects
band together as we stand perfectly still
listening to our song
we feel like children, mesmerized by it all
all of our dreams
composed into
a swamp magnum opus

I do love the sounds of the swamp; it's very musical, just like this poem.

(watch out for gators though)

It's those gators that screw up things, how well I know that Nicole. Thank you for responding so early this morning and good morning to ya . . .

oh wow...

this is in a different vein from what I've read of you, Mr. Pat...love the hot, humid sights and the rich sounds in this...and the soft undercurrents of whimsy...nice touch~

You're braver than I am to walk in that water! LOL But this is beautiful... I love the swamp sounds... and can just hear the bullfrog's bellow. Excellent write!

Not so brave, suthern, that is love speaking, and through love we do many foolish things in its name. At the time I wrote this poem I thought it romantic, albeit a bit misplaced. I still do. Heehee

Thank you for your comments, they are now and always appreciated.

Marvelous, my friend.  I like the mood you must have been in when you wrote this one.

Wow,  this  has such a resounding, almost magical, joy and peace to it that I, no nature buff, would join you out there if I could.  Enjoyable piece.

Well, Michael, you know that old saying about three's a crowd (except in orgies), so I will just thank you for your kind words and decline your presence. My lady and I are very happy alone.

You make a swamp sound like the garden of Eden my friend and I'm sure your lady and you are quite contented.
