Silent in the now is snow that falls to ground
like the creep of agony where it can be felt
and I wonder of the two which will be heard
far beyond the borders of this present time.

Snow will leave, depart, and completely disappear
when seasons change and herald in the warm and beautiful
but of agony it beds right in and stays to reappear
at the moment of inception of remembrances.

Inception?  Yes, the start of and the very beginning
grows and grows till finally it reaches the end
but agony, that fateful thing, slips past the end
and settles down to await the next sure beginning.

How stupid to believe agony’s a thing like me
that at a thought, an accident, or the run out of time
will leave, depart, completely disappear,
and leave a vacant bed where once it nestled in!

"agony, that fateful thing, slips past the end
and settles down to await the next sure beginning."

Enjoyed reading your "Agony".
Such an endless heavy weight to carry.
Someday agony will die, replaced by
endless joy.

Don't know the where-to-fore of your agony, but it is a difficult subject to deal with. Yes, without the beginnings agony would not have a prayer of inflicting itself upon you. I wish you well in defeating this agony and if it stems from hurts long ago maybe it is time to forgive them and in the process forgive yourself.

Thanks, JL and Jerry.  I'm "cool" but snow is falling here today and I was just thinking how creepy it is because it falls so quietly - yes, just like agony, you know. We forgive etc. etc. but somehow that agony has a way of reminding that it was/is there.  What a life!

Agony is a trecherous, many thorned, vine.  Once there, it is not easily removed, indeed.  I can relate to this only too well.  It's nearly impossible to remove a flower nestled in such agony without those thorns sticking you.  If love is true, and the will stubborn, I believe it can be done however.  Enjoyed the read.

Well, dear Helen it strikes me as paradoxical that you should associate soft snowflakes falling with agony ... for me the snow brings always only absolute peace and deep serenity. But of course we have all our own reactions to what happens.

No doubt "agony" begins in the moment we are born, as it's right then when we begin also our path towards the end ... but we have the choice, to transform the time we have been given into a joy filled time or into a pain filled time. Though I am a victim of melancholy and sometimes "agony" I do not allow these moods to control me.

You express this mood powerfully, dear Helen, but I do hope you will not allow that feeling of agony to be your constant companion.
