shoodle-doodles
   danced
into the belly
of sunlit beams
while segregated panes
warmed them and
Sunlight imprisoned
them forever

Rich in imagination. You have captured those "shoodle doodles" so well, Alison.

I can visualize this spectacle of light  and love to linger in its warmth.

A celestial cupcake, ecco!

Ah-Ha!
I remember Shoodle-Doodles
from "The Kitchen Table"
Which you posted a few years ago.
I also remember trying to
find the definition of a Shoodle-Doodle.
Had me smiling then, and now.
Enjoyed!!
Too darn cute...

Dear JL ...

Wow!  How did you EVER remember "The Kitchen Table" & the Shoodle-Doodles?  You deserve to hear the story, my dear friend

When I was a baby I would sit in the sun beam that came through the window.  I would try to catch the dust that danced in the light.  I called them Shoodle-Doodles.

So see - this is an original Alison word.  Thank you - you brought me much joy today!

I...was hoping the definition of shoodle-doodles would come out in the replies.     What a truly awesome word.  This made me feel the sun, and match it in like kind with a smile.

I could see this clearly in my mind as I read.  Almost a deja vu effect.I'll admit the title had me thinking of snicker doodles dancing into my belly before I read the poem, though.

  Nicely done.

Michael,

My very favorite cookies are Snickerdoodles.  They are the first cookie I learned to bake.  Loved them so much I named my first cat Snicerdoodle when I was five.  Thank you so much!

I love dust motes...
they have a life that
only Horton might hear,
yet they sparkle for all...
