A Song

Sung from your heart
As an Celtic hymn
A
Zeal in my spirit sings
Touching your breath
Its harmonic tone
Of warm sweetness
Tingling fresh
Metronome
Breathing
To your beating heart
Rhythmic
A
Lullaby
Fair as your skin
Softness as you hair
Sweetness as your stare
Within a beauty
I dare
To savor
As my own
I dare discern
A
Song as you
Caressing at my ear
Calming as a dove
Resting my fear
Yet wrenching my heart
In thought
Of being without you
Bearing truth alone
Within our song
A
Celtic hymn
Sung from your heart
From the start
Of day
To the end of time
Being with you
Sharing a giving
Echoing throughout
In every way…

Sung from your heart
As an Celtic hymn

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself.

A lover gone is heartbreaking and tragic. What can a poet do but write about it and try to write himself out of the misery which commands seniority in his poetry. You can write yourself sane, JL. I'm living proof. Living Proof. Ah, Hank Williams Jr . . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pImvftYHAm8

I'm actually listening to Celtic music now; and your poem embodies that deep emotional ache and bittersweet feeling that lilts throughout.  "Bearing truth alone" JL, that line carries so much in it.  I've actually been back to this poem a few times, and will a few times more, I'm sure.

Cool piece, my friend.  Celtic music -- depends on the song and the musician ... but I love almost anything by Celtic Women.
