wearing those long Elvis sideburns
back in "tha" day we thought it cool
forty years later you find an old photo
realize Elvis made you look like a fool

Love this!  Not foolish at all.  What is the machine in the picture, Jerry?

Thank you, Lori.

Nicole, the machine is called a linotype machine. It is what all the books and newspapers of the world had their type set in order to print them. Computers phased it out. I loved that old thing. Still have printers ink running through my veins. Thank you for asking and commenting.

Thank you for sharing that with us...I bet it was an art form in and of itself, printing.  It's unfortunate that our 'efficiency' has replaced that; there's nothing that can ever truly replace the feel of paper and the time spent printing on it.

Nicole, you are a wonder. Most people could care less. But it was a feeling of accomplishment when the book was finished, or the magazine was printed. I set type from pornography to Baptist Sunday School Books. It was a prideful thing all the way around for most printers.

Cool Dude!!  Never had the sideburns, but Elvis was king of R&R and what ever he did at that time was boss, so I understand, and I know you weren't alone.
( Did you say, "Thank-U-verymuch..." to the guy taking the picture)???
Heeeheeee....

That's a very beautiful picture, I also "studied" the machine and I guessed well.

I think you look very good with those sideburns. Elvis was the hit and only at distance of time you might think you looked like a fool, but no doubt at the time you were very much "in"!

Very enjoyable, Jerry!

Haha! Of course I gave the shooter of the photo a genuine "Thank-U-verymuch," JL. And yes, he was very much the king.

Thank you, Margherita, and you're right I didn't think of myself as a fool at the time that picture was taken.
