I have only two Christmas hopes,
And they may be old and stained;
That we will all learn how to cope,
Remember soldiers who were slain.

If every child's heart could be glad,
That is another hope of mine.
May they all have mother's and dad's,
I blink back tears for my bloodline.

I do share your Christmas hopes, dear Jerry. This is poignant and beautiful in its essentiality.

Merry Christmas and may love reign within our hearts, so that we can share it with all.

Love, light and peace.

Thank you, Margherita. I had thought you hadn't commented, but I see there are two of the same poems on PiP. How'd That happen?

Sadly I think most people think materialistic when visiting Christmas in their thoughts, tracie66. Just a few of us poets understand and address real issues, I think.
