(Although I'm one who primarily likes to focus on the joyous aspects of the holiday season, I nonetheless always think about those who struggle to find a silver lining during the holiday season, especially during this economic turmoil.......and those my heart aches thinking about in particular are children in hospices, who KNOW they're not going to live much longer, and worse yet often endure grief through isolation.

I share this heartbreaking re-post not to be a downer on the holiday spirit, but to never forget about the altruistic, compassionate facets of the holiday season and urging everyone to find some time to volunteer and/or donate to your local children's hospice when you have spare time. Because ultimately, there's nothing that fulfills my holiday season more than to find a way to make a struggling, dear spirit flash another smile. Bless y'all! )

Snowflakes Falling Over Helen House
By: Lisping Hibiscus

.
.
.
…even…

…in this most darkest hour…

…inside we are the same…

…fragile length of strength…
.
.
.
…when…

…the color’s draining from your face…

…and the silver bells sound faint…

…from the hospice balustrade…
.
.
.
…always remember…

…to play after every storm…

…courage is about laughing fear…

…from the moment we are born…
.
.
.
…and when that purple moon…

…sets upon your pale shoulders…

…in convocation with the sunrise…

…your heartsong won’t subside…
.
.
.
And even as the wounds begin to fade…

…even as the tears no longer cascade…

…even if I live…

…and love differently after you pass…

…the gentleness of your legacy…

…will never be in doubt…

…every time the snowflakes fall…

…over Helen House…
.
.
.
…last night…

…I lit a candle in your name…

…heartbroken and bereaved…

…this lonely Christmas eve…
.
.
.
…there…

…as the tears were sliding down my face…

…I heard silver bells clang…

…from Mapledurham Estate…
.
.
.
…you were reminding…

…us all to play after every storm…

…and I sat on the Chiltern Hills…

…watching turtle doves swarm…
.
.
.
…and that made me think…

…even every caregiver is a wayfarer…

…getting through by going through…

…I just want to say to you…
.
.
.
Even as the wounds begin to fade…

…even as the tears no longer cascade…

…even if I live…

…and love differently after you pass…

…the gentleness of your legacy…

…will never be in doubt…

…every time the snowflakes fall…

…over Helen House…
.
.
.
And when…

…you turn off the bedroom light…

…for the final time…

…after you say goodbye…
.
.
.
…and your friends…

…smile with sadness in their eyes…

…they know you know today…

…and with you they will pray…
.
.
.
And when you’re short of breath…

…when you can’t rest your head…

…knowing you’ll need to learn to live…

…and love differently in the afterglow…

…the gentleness of her legacy…

…will never be in doubt…

…every time the snowflakes fall…

…over Helen House…
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

Dear Noah, thank you for this infinitely precious and poignant poem and for the gift of your generous and kind heart.

Love and peace.

Thank you; so much, for being a voice for those who have little or none.  Your heart and social responsibility to others, has always been an inspiration.  A poignant reminder for people to take just half a second to look beyond themselves, and their own trials.

I type through a mist of tears, trying to swallow the lump in my throat. This is so lovely, but not half as beautiful as your spirit. Merry Christmas, my friend... and thank you for all you do, all the time.
