Momma Jo mounted her horse Apache Red
reached her hand for Gunslinger to climb up
"I'll not ride behind a female if I have to walk"
spying Love's mare Jenny he climbed up; bloody

Hah! Momma Jo said, didn't bother you I saved your life
took two days steady riding to get back to Bad
and Momma Jo's one-room shack, outside of town
stopped, helped Gunslinger off Jenny; bleeding worse

liked to bled to death, Momma Jo called Ryder Cole
drunkard; town of Bad's doctor; most had rather die
than trust him, Momma Jo felt she had no choice
he said Gunslinger'd never use that shootin' hand again

infection set in, abscessed and then drained; he lay
delirious for five days seeing shadows not clarity
he tried but he couldn't coax clarity from shadows
the world was dark and Gunslinger's thoughts bleak

fever broke on the fifth day; Momma Jo stood nude
before him I've kept you alive, watched over you like a
sitting hen, you're strong enough to give me some payback

it took six days before they emerged from the shack

his shootin' hand destroyed, he practiced with his left
darkness still conjured up in his mind most days
Momma Jo said, the darkness will go away from you
need patience; sit still and wait for the light; it'll come

I'm going to try and continue it, JL, until I find I have nothing else to say. Appreciate the comment.
