Anyone Over Eighteen, Admitted

Yeah, you can buy cigarettes
But, you can’t get the booze
And most offers held out to you
Will, take you where you’ll lose.

You can work at a fast food
Though, nothing wrong with that
Except, if you have some diploma
That’s not near where, it, is at.

Or, they can take your young blood
Spilled in some foreign land
Say, you can die, for Country
And everything will be grand.

They’ll hold a Funeral for you
A gun Salute, and folded Flag
They’ll hand it to your Loved Ones
Give them, the right to brag.

Yes, he died there in Vietnam
Or over in some other place
He made the warmongers richer
Who’ll shed no tears, not a trace.

Just a number in the body count
Of all those killed and maimed
Some remains found years later
Who yet haven't been, given a name.

They might give you an, “Angel Flight”
If, your body has been found
Tell you that spot is Sacred
Where’er it touches down.

They say it’s for, “God and Country!
That, you must take up the gun
Go, and kill all our enemies
For, this battle must be won!”

But, since ourWorld War Two
Have, we ever really won a war?
Sometimes our Heroes never know
What the hell, they’re fighting for.

Most times, it’s for their Brothers
(And some Sisters, nowadays)
To save each other’s life and limb
Can be, the only part, that pays.

Too many, of our young folks
Have been thrown into, that grinder
And every folded Flag, given
Is, a coldhearted reminder.

Not only wealth, we squander
But worse, the Lives of our young
And, for those who come Home
Sometimes, their Hell has just begun.

They used to call it, “Shell Shock.”
Now it’s known as, “PTSD”
While reliving all those horrors
That, no human being, should see.

But, we’ll just go on fighting
Trying to kill, our Fellowman
I ‘m sure that’s not what He had in mind
When, He wrote, that Heavenly Plan!

Only one of the reasons that occupy wall streeters exist..

I hope this country realizes that.

A poets power is in their pen..
You have a brave and powerful one..
Though the warmongers might not think so.

"But, we’ll just go on fighting
Trying to kill, our Fellowman
I ‘m sure that’s not what He had in mind
When, He wrote, that Heavenly Plan!"

and that is obvious
