Angels used to be everywhere,
On land and sea and in the air.
Your angel is one of a kind,
She is lusty woman defined.

I sit, book in hand, terrified
as the tome spewed poetry to me.
The words it spoke with heavy
accent weren't frightening words,
no; far from it. I was terrified
quite simply because it spoke at all.

I see you wincing at my words,
To call her an angel; absurd.
How little you know of her past,
I'll tell you though you didn't ask.

I could only nod at the blasted
thing; for thing is what it is.
I fear for my sanity sitting and
conversing with the damndable
old book. Still, I suddenly feel
subdued; waiting for it to go on.

She bears an essence handed down,
In olden times she wore a crown.
Your woman is a special breed,
Her words are hallowed by her creed.

I sit quite still, my anger has left,
the book has a calming effect,
much to my surprise. I relax my
grip, attempt to remove my hands
from the opus. But no, the book
reclaims my hands. Magic spells?

She's the result of broken hearts,
Looking to you for a fresh start.
Primordial blood runs through her veins.
Blood of royalty once slain.

"The things you say about her,
the poet in her from the ancients,
sounds like a bunch of gobbledystuff."
I've gone quite mad, sitting here
conversing with this book, no matter
how ancient and wise it might be

An angel, sent to you from far,
But not a genie in a jar.
Ah, but she's the innocent one,
She knows not the force she has won.

Thinking my heart would leave my
chest, I had no words to say to it.
Still, I began to see some truth to
the tome's strange and mysterious
rhymes. Yes! She is poet supreme.
And master at the double entendre.

Perhaps you aren't touched in the head,
And you have learnt to me not dread.
You're beginning to see the light,
I tire, be back tomorrow night.

"But no, the book
reclaims my hands. Magic spells?"

And your stories hold that same magic.
Nice writing Jerry.

There is a touch of
whimsical sincerity mixed
with utter belief...

so much to be enjoyed...

Appreciate your kind words, Sunshine, I quite enjoyed writing this series of poetry, and I'm not done yet, but will switch to different forms as I proceed.
