Once you were vibrant,
now blanket your dead
in anemia's green

we yield to the wind
and collapse  
at your shadow

draining your field
of its tricolored
dream

Ah, the last stanza reached out and grabbed me, EmmaRose. I could just see the field fading into a brown, lusterless color.

This reminds me of a part in the movie "The dead poets society" when the teacher (Robin Williams) tells the students to look close at the pictures of dead athletes in the showcase...and then whispers "carpe diem"

I dodn't know why, but this is where this well written piece took me?
