I watched her undress
like one watches the kitchen table fill
with dozens of meals each and every day

Her hair reminded me of
how I learned to run for hours, endlessly
How the sky would open up
as the light perished into a dust so grey
the caves of the far east welcomed its way

I watched her undress
until the tomatoes of the harvest began to rise
and the soil of the ground became so moist

Until she saw me rest my eyes upon her.

intent to the eye of the reader
