it hangs on a nail beside the computer
you gave it to me
it isn't as big as a breadbasket
not as small as a thimble
somewhere in-between
it isn't hard like when I think of you
it isn't soft like butter
but dreamily suggestive of hazel eyes
I can reach out
touch it
fondle maybe is a better word
it is good for fondling
your letters
your wonderfully perfumed letters
are propped against the computer
everything is in their place
I sniff the letters
and what is hanging on the nail
beside the computer.
their ambrosia lifts me into your arms
if only metaphorically
still . . .
you are here with me
because you write me perfumed letters
and send me things
I can hang on a nail
