They exchanged glances like wolves in the middle of the refuge
the night so dark, shadows were often seen squabbling over light

She had her lip curved into the inside of winters froth
with her skirt like an icy leaf touching the branches of Gods tender hands

He watched her under the blue ease of a winter tease
Brandishing a small piece of paper that could hardly be seen
as the sea of white covered the land

Such a glance he bestowed upon her
like the glass painting that lighted the cathedral
He use to walk into as a young boy in hopes of repentance

His dark turmoil
fatherless past
all came to a head
when a light of white, so bright
the pearls of white from the winter reign could no longer be seen

She, the bright light
but still all the more mortal
with her chapped lips and collarbone noticeably visible from the frigid temperatures

So tender
her scars along her legs
much like the lines that touched the base of the oak wood trees

They were the true souls of white
compatible through the darkness of light
she, the dark passenger

Enigmatic with just enough clarity (not trying to be punny) to tantalise imagination and pondering curiosity.  And beautiful too - par for the course!

Owl, appreciate the comments, as always.  I can only hope such a poem covers all the bases that you described.  Happy you enjoyed.

Cheers,
