squinting his eyes toward blistering Sol
Desperado, shallow breath rasping
          feels the Colt's handle
          closes withered hand around it
slowly he begins to free the Colt
from its resting place, but he stopped
          not because he wanted to
          there was no strength left
anger overtook this man Desperado
not because he was dying
          because he had misjudged
          and had no more choices
during Desperado's checkered past he'd had choices
some choices had been decided by the Colt
          he used his fists
like now the Colt remained holstered
his eyes wide open, he refused to close them
this, then, was the last of his choices, he would die
eyes burnt out from the sun
at least he had a choice
