when the backward glance
become so severe
that gritting your teeth
clenching your fists
and praying
doesn't make it all go away
or at least be bearable
share it
when the hurt is abominable
pain behind your eyes
block out the good in you
blackness is all you can see
don’t know where to start
where to stop
how and where and . . . when to make it go away
share it
dungeons of despair
give no mercy
you rattle your chains
ask for understanding; at least a little peace
the steel door of NO!
slams shut
closing down all effort
all means of hope
share it

Sounds like the wise words of experience my friend... words to heed.

Sometimes it is too painful to share.
But if one can overcome the guilt or shame or pain and share then it could be a positive thing.

Enjoyed.

That's what I'm talking about, J.L. I probably saved my life by using poetry to share my darkest secrets. Thanks for stopping by and sharing you thoughts.

WOW!! Jerry, this is a great piece of writing... do you mind if I share it with one of my friends who is going thru some 'stuff' at the moment, I think this would help her no end...

Thank you, Ida. Good advice, but difficult to adhere to sometimes.

I definitely understand this... Long before anyone read what I wrote, the pen was more than a friend... it was a raft.
