He wondered where he was
the city of Vienna was a vortex

This was his third trip here
the only place in the world
where he had no sense of direction

He followed his friend,
they talked of time and space,
of reality

of whether all these people surrounding them
were just a cast, extras, for their lives

His friend told him,
"I am just an extension of yourself"
(What if God were one of us...)
played in the background

"Are you sure we're not in Texas?"

he replied,
"Well, the people here do look more like Texans"

"and they're smiling and friendly,
so, I know we're not in Prague"

"I need a currency exchange", his friend said
He looked up and pointed, "There"

(As if it had appeared out of thin air)

They walked on
"I want Thai for lunch"
There is a Wurst stand
They have Kababs and Happy Noodles

He looked on the menu
"Thai Red Chicken Curry"
There were no other non-noodle Asian dishes
"This is getting weird", he said

(You should ask for something better)

He thought of his girlfriend in Prague
and a pair of red high heels
clopped on by,
a blonde woman with a pony tail
in a black coat bouncing high

He thought to himself...
"What would happen if I jumped in front of this red tram and got splattered all over the place?"

"On these cold autumn grey and green streets,
what would Vienna look like with blood splattered
under our feet?"

The tram passed by,
he looked at the wall of the building it left
after driving by

One, Two, Three splatters of red paint on the wall
He did a one look, a double take
in disbelief, what was the mistake?

He talked to his friend
and told him the story
he pointed at the wall
the evidence, that was gory

His friend held his tongue in silence.

Wow, what a mess to be in.
I think I’d be like the friend: “His friend held his tongue in silence.”

I am so happy this is just a place for Catholics, whew-we-man...
I can guarantee you it ain’t in Texas.

Enjoyed your write.
