My friends, I though I'd heard it all.
I've heard some of the craziest
Tales that were so off-the-wall
They made me cry, "You surely jest!!!"

And, though they were nonsensical
And dumb enough to make me cry
I fear we've reached the pinnacle
Right there at Patrick Henry High.

They made a girl the new prom king.
That's true, my pals, you heard it right.
She is the king and has a queen
Beside her on homecoming night.

I have to say I've never heard
Of kings that wore lip gloss and rouge.
To me it sounds a bit absurd
That she's a king that they would choose.

Now, isn't that a silly thing
I feel a pounding in my head.
To have a king without a 'thing'
but pantyhose and bra, instead?

I know that everyone is free
To choose a lifestyle of their own
But I'm not sure I'd like to see
A female sitting on my throne!

So she's the king  in lace and frills.
His majesty is now a her.
His excellence is on the pill
And does not want to be called "sir".

"Give me liberty or death!"
Those words were Patrick Henry's claim.
He'll never know a girl is king
At the school that's carrying his name!

Haven't been to New Orleans lately, have you? *bratty grin*

I read the story... and I know this is going to make it obvious I'm ancient... but when did students start running for homecoming king and queen as a COUPLE??? High schools and colleges I follow choose the courts separately... if the king and queen happen to be dating, it's happy coincidence.

And if you consider that this is someone who thinks that "tradition" for girls includes "don’t have an opinion, don’t own any property, give up the right to marry who you love, don’t vote, and allow your husband to do whatever he pleases to you"... you'll REALLY be scratching your head and going hunh??!!

I agree, sutrhern gal. We would announce kings and queens seperately, with the new king wondering who his queen would be. Guess we're in the fogey range, huh?

America has Cancer, my friend. I can't say anymore than that and be nice about it.

If there is shame to blame, it's with us.
The character "Forrest Gump", said it best,
"Stupid is as stupid does."

Enjoyed the reminder.
