Free Fall

I free fall

without a parachute

grasping at words

that would lift me up

My arms, legs

spread wide

struggling desperately

to slow my decline

It isn't the fall

that hurts

they say,

it's the sudden

stop

Thank you immensely, my gifted friend, for using my poem as a springboard for this little gem. Yes indeed, and you betcha, it's always that sudden stop that's the main problem. Thanks again
