November wind is sullen-bold
Stripping trees of raiment, bare
Bright leaves fall like burnished tears;
Frozen rain paints earth stiff-white,
And guilds the hemlocks , tip and branch
With doily lace, icicle cold.

To change a rule, the Hazel binds
Its yellow flags to mountain sides
Flower blooms in ribbons dressed,
Catch the eye of golden bees
Who gather for their last great feast,
The last to buzz, before snow flies.

Purple daggers, pierce a passing cloud ,
Rain-drops follow rays to ground.
But bluster seems to bend the shafts
And send the dead leaves scratching down,
Deer trails where the gray squirrel plays-
Seizing days...
Below Novembers shroud.
*
Up high, the widgeons stay their course
Persisting on their journeys way.
Wings a-whistle, steady beats
Drive them through crepuscular mist.

Wow.  You make walking out in November a pleasant walk.  The visual is supreme.
Love it ice!
So enjoyed the walk, thanks.

The intensity of the changing season reads beautifully.
You capture so much with each and every word.

Very nice writing~

Love this, Ice, especially the widgeons  flight.

The word play in this
my friend,
is to hear November flinging
leaves onto windows
and the last of thunder's bluff
rumbling the panes...

What wonderful replies......:-)
Thank you all for taking this walk with me.
After snowing twice in October, the first few days of this November are amazingly beautiful..frosty mornings, warm afternoons.
But November is fickle, and can change its mood at any moment.

Thank you all.
