.

I don’t undress her
This woman nearer
To my age

I leave her fully clothed
In an image of her youth
And mine

We then make believe
With words full of illusions
Of love and bed

Given we’ll go in the end
Once more to our separate lives
Apart as usual with nothing
More to be said

Knowing now if allowed
Another decade or two
Should we meet again
In some aisle or twilit corridor

Neither will remember
The other’s name

Sometimes illusions can be our salvation ...

A cynic write, but again you caught the sad truth of many such "situations".
