The Path Once the hopeless romantic, Now a cynic stands in my place. Once I faced the world, frantic, Now ‘set a much milder pace. I watch the eyes look to me, And then quickly turn away… The once thought friends I now can see Were given to betray. As I walk this empty pathway, Strewn with flowers of remorse All leading back to yesterday, I choose a much more direct course. No longer the love-starved poet, Just a man forever lost; I threw the dream away and know it. Damned, I daily pay the cost. And I may never reach tomorrow From a today that’s pure hell – A hollowness that but turns sorrow To an empty wish as well. Where I don’t care to lift a finger To in anyway enhance life… ‘Just carry on, the dead ringer For a man who loved my wife. I throw not emotions to the void, Nor hide them behind a wall, But, simple truth, passion destroyed, Don’t feel anything at all. Still, I count the endless minutes Till body catches up to mind – Till I finally greet death in its Glory, and leave those cold, cold eyes behind. Michael Anderson I could not love except where Death |

Michael, we have walked the same road, maybe somewhat differently, but the same road nonetheless. It took me decades to finely let it go. I hope it doesn't take you as long. ~* If they give you lined paper, write the other way. ~*~ |

And it can be a lonely path as you have written so well. JL Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. |

If this doesn't break a reader's heart, they should check to see if they still have one. You write misery more beautifully than I would have thought possible... but I sure hope the path yet unseen is kinder than you foresee. *S* |

Lori, no crying aloud! Hugs accepted, of course. Thank you. JP, I have felt that with many of your writings as well. I’ll catch up! Don’t worry. JL, indeed. Ruth, yeah well Misery and I go way back… married her a couple of times, sailed her across an endless ocean once, maybe it's time I should see if she has a sister or something… anything for a change. Glad you liked the new photo, can you guess which one is Mikey? Lol Ms E., glad you enjoyed. |
