Life honors death and Death honors life.
Yet they speak not of each other

When you entered this world you were already crying the sweet song of life
and though in your death, you have been silenced,
yet the season’s breezes are whispering the joyful melodies of you.

Life speaks not of death, and death speaks not of life
Yet the living rose will die and in its death, remains alive
I cannot write of either life , nor its purpose
Nor can its infinit spectrum be scrolled in black ink
On a one-dimensional page

And so I throw this paper to the wind
And relinquish my poet pen to you, the rose
As you reach for the sun, growing ever taller
Ever stronger, your petals more beauteous than in
The season past, and in your silence you reveal
God’s secrets understood by nature

All of life speaks for itself
its intricate web  synchronized in
Timeless beauty,
Each leaf, each creature of the sea, each child
One dependent on the other to sustain itself
For future generations
And  with each rebirth comes the longing
To rise a little higher
To love more deeply
To have more compassion,
To honor and to respect
To give of oneself
And life speaks of its purpose in
The fragrance of a flower

There are times when I simply feel humbled to have had the privilege of reading a particular piece. This is such a time. I'd yell a BRAVO! but the lump in my throat won't let me...

Absolutely superb!

And you "give of yourself" most beautifully here, dear Elizabeth, revealing your luminous soul.

A wonderful write, to keep and reread.

Oh this is so perfectly said, our own mortality is so fragile, and yet there was a time when I thought I were invincible.  Your thoughts are my feelings as well, I just couldn't have put them to poetry quite like you do.

So lovely, thank you for this heart song~

Liz,

And is that rose the name of any of the beautiful children before you? The name seems bent on belonging to at least one of those of your garden.

Beautiful work, m'friend.
