Tell me of poems
They are the deepest heart-psalms
That's what poems are

You have it right, JP, they are the deepest heart-psalms... and the poor poet is almost compulsively driven to divulge them.

I've never really been able to discern who's doing the driving between my muses and I, but I swear the poems write themselves more often than not.

Thank you, Michael. Yes, we write what must be written, full speed ahead and all that rot.

Poetry is much like a battle field of life experiences.

Fits with what General George S. Patton said about his experiences:

"Battle is an orgy of disorder."

I think,  much like poets and poetry.
He was a great poet and General as well.
