state of confusion

He cradled Driftwood as she wept
She held onto him
For dear life
Afraid that in the flood she’d be swept

Her tears came as no surprise
He waited for
Them patiently
To return her to his eyes

He felt her sobs against his chest
Pleading to
His heart
He couldn’t help himself imagining her undressed

He’d loved her since way back then
When they were
Still just kids
He couldn’t tell her now like when they were ten

She fell asleep in his arms, too close to resist
She’d been gone
Much too long
Her sweet lips he gently kissed

From somewhere down inside her deep
She felt him
And his love
And kissed him back in her sleep

This is a sweet side of Driftwood and her long lost friend. Who knows, maybe this is the spark that rekindles the flame. I like this new Eusta B. Mae 2. Yes, I most surely do.
