Showers should be ending by the afternoon,
The all-purpose weatherman smiles at us like he likes us.
Or weatherwoman, don't leave her out,
No.  They are no longer meteorologists, they are stars.
Someone asked once,
How long would they talk about the weather
If we let 'em.
Now we know.

Is it just me, am I the only one
Who wants to puke
Every time I hear and/or see
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie?
The world is slowly falling apart,
Nasty things abound,
And the media has turned into a nanny.

There was respite today from the beautiful people
A snake called Abu Musab al-Zarqawi
Was killed, thank you, Allah
He is dead.
Why can't the media just report,
State the obvious,
And move on,
Not make a martyr out of the vermin?

Reality shows,
Does anyone really watch these things?
Have we sunk so low
That plot and structure mean nothing in what we watch
Oh,
I forgot
Reality shows have all that,
Because they are staged, not reality!!!

Whether it is the morning, or evening news,
Networks, Cable or local,
Does not matter,
They all look the exact same.
I know they really don’t look the same,
But their persona is so alike,
So . . . pleasant and polite,
The Stepford News Media.

When I go to a movie,
Or watch my favorites on television,
It is the acting I go there for,
Not what they think,
About anything.
They all seem to have the secret to saving the world.
I used to love Barbara Streisand's voice,
Now I can't stand to look at her, she's so crass.

This wasn't a rant,
At least not a Jerry Rant,
Just had a few things
To say,
Said 'em,
Now I'll be on my way.
Oh, one more thing, about Barbara?
I have that movie.  Yup.

And what side of the bed did you get up on?
But I have to agree with you. Funny you should mention Barbra, I'm not a fan but I heard her on the radio the other day and have had "I am a woman in love..." stuck in my head ever since.

Barbara had a beautiful voice, Lori, it is just her political craziness I can't deal with. I liked her as an actress, but those days are over. She has become a caricature of herself.

Guess I'm out of that political loop...I don't think I'm missing a thing. And it was an oldies station I was listening to.

Nope, you aren't missing a thing, Lori. The oldies station is the only way to go.

JerryP - I must say you have struck a thumping chord here. From a time when rock and roll was brand new and heroes and sheroes had actually done something worth merit,I've noticed a gradual deterioration of what and where we invest our trust and belief. History shows that empires often begin their decay from what begins to break down inside. Thanks for writing this JP. It's a reminder for some and a wake up call for others. I enjoyed it. Namyh
P.S. - Now I'm going to listen to some very good oldies music...strickly for sanity purposes only. LOL.

Thank you, Namyh, for you valuable comments. Yes, from the inside is where, why and how America is doomed. Not so long ago if a company showed a profit it was a good thing. It mean more jobs, it meant the company was solid. Now when a company shows a profit they have an "Occupy Wall Street, etc.," and demand they be giving that profit for the simple fact that they are living.

Sorry, , I got off on a tangent, but it is all part of the collapsing of America. I fear for our country.
