Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2011-10-16 04:06 PM

He looks upon a parcel of land
overgrown with trees
Envisions his piece of dirt
with home and garden planned
Undaunted by the sweat and pain
of its clearing
He works the daylight hard
to feel his worth in gain
Like the ant that takes on
a load that dwarfs his size
A single-handed kinda man
“He gets by with a little help
from his friends”

It is amazing in my eyes
to see one so driven
and lately feeling like
he's running out of time
by a heart so completely given
And I fear I'll be the death of him
what with getting lost
in the forest of my trees
Would that things were such
I married you for
your money honey
And there was nothing left
but leisure
and me to please
on earth for you to do
I worry not so much upon
money of the morrow
as I do the day
come too soon
filled with sorrow

This is the most romantic damn poem I have ever read. Thank you, Lori, for putting the heart where it is supposed to be. A man's dream. Sometimes the dream becomes a nightmare, and sometimes the dream becomes smiles. I really like this poem, Lori, so much so I'm saving it. You have quite a lot of righteous feeling in your poetic pens.

And he has a winner to recognize and appreciate the joint effort.

It sounds more like you're the life of him... for a man (person) with dreams needs someone to believe in him and his dreams. *S* This is beautiful!!
