Hand On My Pen

Why is it
that the more we’re
apart
the more we’re,
a part
of each other?

Why is it
that the shorter our time
together
the longer
the length,
of our embrace?

How is it
that around
you
the songs
sing themselves,
and the sun
shines brighter
making you
drip
so that it can kiss
your skin,
and take
a sip.

It’s kind of funny how
I don’t really share
this whole,
writing thing,
with people I know,
on the
outside.

You know,
outside this virtual
sea
we float on
together,
that brings us
through
the good
and bad weather
depending on,
the tides
that bind.

And through all these
years
of only words for
fingers
and letters
for lips
you probably know me
better
than most
others,
ever could
or will.

And to think
someday
it will all,
just end.

Just as quick,
as it started.

Probably without
even
a farewell
let alone,
a first kiss,
goodbye.

Guarantees
for tomorrow
are usually not very
good,
are they.

By the way,
where is the
good,
in goodbye?

And no one else
will ever even
really know.

And round and round,
and round and round,
and round,
and round
our words,
they will go.

Lost in place
without a
trace
in heaven’s grace
to forever,
flow.

Each one,
with its own
energy,
each one
with its own
pluck
and initiative
surging through
naught,
past winds
of oblivion
on blankets of
utmost,
and quite.

Lying
in honesty
like sleeping
truths,
heartbeats waiting
to be
reclaimed
and salvaged
back into
hopeful intentions
or perhaps
some,
uncashed promise
or two.

These heart storms
lingering
in hallways
behind heartbeats
coursing
through the veins
of discernment
and excitation
onto
the skin
of a tree that once
swayed
bound in a
ballad
that can never,
be played.

And if
those that dare
to listen
with their eyes,
they will still
be able
to smell
the aura
of your
anticipation
and taste my
longing and touch,
what once
and always,
virtually
was.

In my world
those things
never really,
go away.

They just
turn into
shades
and color the sky
as you’re part of the
rainbow.

You just never,
knew why.

Every feeling that ever was
will forever be
in the smile of flowers
and in the silence
of the starving child
who just found
the banquet,
of a crumb in the
dirt.

Each tear of rain
we wrote
that falls
on dessert nightmares
that forgot
how to cry
come from a soldier
that lays
on the shoulder of a road
who decided,
this day not to die.

But still,
she did.

Each baby’s first breath
was another’s last.

Each path that we traveled
there was one
we couldn’t pass.

Each sight that we dreamed of
and kept in our mind
can only be walked now
by those,
who are blind.

And all,
of the links
that we broke
in the chain
tear all the
thunder
and strip all the
pain.

And bring us
the smiles
that only we
shared
from all of the
love
to you,
I declared.

You want to hear something
kind of funny.

Sometimes love,
is simply being,
dumb together.

In a good way of course.

Love, is the hardest thing
to do.

It means
giving
someone,
the chance
to hurt you.

Sometimes things fall apart
so that all of the pieces
can fall back together,
again
the right way.

Please don’t thank
me
for my poems.

I am just the ink.

It is your hand
on my,
pen,
that has written them
all along

Loving you,
is
my religion.

Your body
is,
my church.

Baptized
in blue waters
bathed,
in your tears
as I take
in my mouth
the oath
the communion
my sacrament,
in you.

Well, dear Richy, you have outdone yourself with this one. It is like a cloud of tenderness to get lost in, like waves of blue water to surf on ... like the peak of a mountain from where one wants to shout one's love to the world ...

Quite simply amazing ... and comforting.

Wonderful thoughts and poetic heights to enjoy.

Love,
Margherita

Well I’m soo glad that I do.

If you find it a little hard to breathe right now, its because I’m holding on a little extra long to that hug you sent my way…

I’ll let go in a bit, I don’t want to, but I will..

Have to tell you something Richy. I signed up for a couple of poetry sites that send a poem from one of old  "masters" daily.I have been fast reading these for quite a few years and have yet to keep one in my files; "master poets"? Your words I have to copy and file in my "Richy File".Even if I miss one,or forget to tell you.Know that I always read and usually copy and file. You are truly a "Master poet".jo

Oh gosh Jo what a kind thing to say, thanks soo much for that, but I'm just a scribbler who throws words up against the barn...

It's all in the eye of the beholder yes?

Thanks again, you've definately humbled me with your gracefulness...

Hugs to you!
You're the best!!

Wow! Richy you really out did yourself! I agree with Marg and everyone else who commented.

"Each baby's first breath
was another's last."

This line really struck me. I know this to be true from personal experience. When each of my two childern were born, I know someone who died at approx. the same time.

Wonderful poem, enjoyed!

Were it that way, Richy,
for everyone,
we would be in Utopia.

But it is a wonderful thought.

Thanks for your time and comment Sunshine, always appreciated.

No, not for everybody, but this world where not everyone and everything is perfect, is utopia to me, and if I’m lucky, the profound endearment of others will always be my faith.

That other one that people talk about would bore me in about four minutes.

Thank you my friend. There is not much that we actually do, for ourselves, is there?

Thanks for stopping by on this fine evening.
