If I could capture heaven
I'd bring it straight to you,
Fill your heart with sweetest peace
For you're good through and through

If I could paint a morning
The glory of sunrise
Could not surpass the beauty
I see within your eyes

If I could build a mountain
In all its majesty
Its grandeur would not equal
What your smile is to me

If I could pause ocean's waves,
Stop rain from falling down
I'd protect you from all harm
And erase ev'ry frown

If I could spin straw to gold
Or conjure happiness
I'd have more to offer you
Than my timid caress

I just have this heart to give -
I know that it's not much
And right now, it is breaking
As you slip from my touch

Take the paths that beckon you
Then come back home to me
For waiting here, loving you
Is where I'll always be

Oh mama!  Wow!
This is so beautiful, a real heart melting love song, with such clarity in devotion and commitment.

Suffice to say, I really enjoyed this.

You look so lovely in such tender light.

I love the simplicity of this...it's elegant and has no need for gimmicks and flourishes.

Just sweet emotion from a pure heart.

Absolutely lovely. :

Oh gosh Ruthy, I was just humming along thinking wow what another wonderful poem, and then the last two verses just drew all the breath out of me and charged my body with endorphins or some such hormone... very very special mi lady.

Whew, that was a nice way to get jump started for this Sunday morn!

Beautiful sentiments through and through this piece of work, suthern. If give all that you can and his continues to slip away, however, I'd let him go with your blessings and begin to look around for his replacement. They can be replaced you know.

You made my heart hurt a bit - it's a good hurt, but it feels your poem.  Thank you for taking the time to bring me back.  I would have hated to have missed this poem.

Great piece with some wonderful lines.
I am impressed.
