.

How odd it is
The whole 20th Century
Seems so far away

One can imagine
Union soldiers
Somewhat confused
Asking for directions
In 1962

The Tet Offensive
And Battle of the Bulge
Exchanging memories
With Waterloo

The sun and moon
Have seen it all
Each generation passing
Into yesteryear

And who is that
In a long silk dress
Now waiting for you

Humming
A waltz by Strauss
In the evening air
Her carriage and four
On the cobbled road

Profound emotions, as you remember events that bring shivers when thinking of the folly of it all.

And who is the woman waiting? I visioned her at heaven's gate ...

Time brings things into perspective, as phases of our lives ... distant, still impressive, but slowly we detach, as we move on.

Great job.
