Not An Average Teenager

I'm not that teenager
That gets drunk cause it's cool
I'm not peer pressured
Into things I do not wanna do

I'm not that teenager
Alone in the street
Dying from heat, hunger, pain
Or even all three

I'm not that teenager
Left mistreated, alone and confused
Unloved by her parents
And misunderstood by her fores

I'm not that teenager
Addicted to things
That I shouldn't be
Like pot, meth and cocaine

I'm not that teenager
That go pregnant
Cause I was in love with
A guy I hardly knew

I'm not that teenager
Failing in school
Because I do not like
To be told what to feel, say and do

I'm not that teenager
And I never will be
That is garenteed
But I am me

I won't be told that
I'm just another teenager
You don't feel what I feel
Although you say you do

Only I know exactly
How I feel
Only I know exactly
What I want and need

So please give me this chance
I need it severely
It might be a mistake
But I really don't believe it is

I need a chance
To prove to you
I'm not like that teenager
And neither is he

Nice plea.

I know, I know, parents just don't understand.
You could rewrite that theme with a mom or dad instead of a teenager.

The need and urgency to be understood is well expressed here.

And you don't say you are better than the average teenager, but you say you are YOU and that is a good thing.
