All She needs – is ask

Her love left her at her own front door.
Sweet amours way to say:
No needs to even try
No win for her yesterday, tomorrow, or today…

Her losses are best kept
close abreast,
to forever self remind –
in her own intellect, her loss is but one of a kind…

She peeks out her living room window with hope,
seeking a smile from her promised desire in lieu,
yet she quickly pulls down her bamboo shade
sits on her worn out couch, and reads the daily news.

The headline in bold print reads:
“Woman sickened by a broken heart!”
Her eyes well up she cannot believe
her story is written front page, for all to read…

She whispers her song - sorrowful and deepest of 8 bar blues,
harmonic rhyming her misfortune, oh so true…
She spreads her angel wings, slowly strums her resonator guitar:
With a wish someone out there might remedy her plea…

She turns to the editorial written on page 3:
“Go to your front door and clean up the debris –
the collection of leaves from days, days, and days of past.”
Holding her breath she cannot quite believe.

Could the truth be this simple and as clear as glass?
Letters written in Times New Roman and Bold,
A placard placed in ad full-page and absence of charge:
“All she needs – is ask”

Putting this one in my library!

Your message comes through very clearly here. Broken hearts seem to abound!

Wise and lovely is the verse referring to past memories which accumulated through time and need indeed to be swept away, to clear the way.

Captivating write!

Love,
Margherita

From reading the blues to singing them... you tell such a wonderful tale of dread, desire, hope, sorrow, hope... life. Beautiful work!

Margherita.  I am so glad you enjoyed.

I don't fully follow the content, but JL, the intrigue, beauty, sensitivity, images and concepts (whether I have the right concepts or not) in this exquisite poem, touch me deeply.

Thank you OwlSA for reading and for your kind comments.

I guess suthern said it best:
"From reading the blues to singing them... you tell such a wonderful tale of dread, desire, hope, sorrow, hope... life."

Sorry I wasn't a little more clear with the content.  I would make a great Titanic Captain.  ((((ICEBERG))))!!

Very cute....yet sad and enlightening at the same time....

I once left what was left of love on my front door.....

still makes me sad to think about the things that shouldn't happen but still do and all the time all we had to do is ask.....hmmmmm

Paul Simon could make a wonderful song from these words, that are moving and emotional.
