She sold her soul for the price of admission

And she bargained her goodness for the cost of fame

She gambled her worth for the promises found on the sparkle of a fantasy
And the glitz of a fool's gold

Poor baby

Whoever promised you the moon
On a stringĀ
For a mint...

lied

"I'll tell you how the sun rose
A ribbon at a time..." - Emily Dickinson

Liked this very much.  A statement made in the velvet voice of an artist.

Superbly expressed, MorningStar and a very powerful and heartfelt warning to turn around before falling into this trap, or to turn back even after having fallen into it.
