Socialized Security
(written 29 years ago)

Seems they raise taxes every day
They say, to pay the bills
To buy tanks and bombs and planes
But not to cure our countries ills.

If American and down and out
And you have really been trying
If you seek help, (don't tell the truth)
You won't get it without lying.

If you're from another nation
That's a different story
Our government will pay your way
You'll get it all for free.

If you pay your share for years
And then suddenly you find
That you're without a job
Finding help will blow your mind.

They'll say you need a job
Before they can lift a hand
You must be waiting on a paycheck
This, I don't understand.

If you had a job and money
You wouldn't be in a dire strait
But some people are starving
And they can not wait.

For our lousy, unfair system
To get through the red tape
The middle classed and poor
Get something akin to rape.

We hear pleas all the time
To help the worlds starving poor
I think we should start at home
And close our wide open door.

Let's take care of our own
Or at least give it a try
Before our country falls apart
And we sit and wonder why.

Just think how many of our poor
Could be helped and fed
For the price of just one bomb
Designed to make people dead.

I wonder why those people working
In tax supported agencies
Will give you the run-a-round
Until you’re begging on your knees.

Too bad they're not required
To live as others have to do
Taken from their ivory towers
To see the world of me and you.

You'd think it was their money
It's not!  It's yours and mine
From all the taxes that we pay
The way it's wasted is a crime.

We sell Russia grain for nothing
And let the worlds riff-raff in
While we fight just to survive
With our patience growing thin.

Those who aren't in need
Don't care or want to hear
They say it's not their concern
But they're not seeing clear.

Sure, there's a bunch of people
Who take all that they can
But there's so many more
That deserve a helping hand.

It seems those who deserve it
Are the ones who go without
There must be a better way
A way to help them out.

So those of you in power
Had better take an honest look
Before all of us peons
Try to re-write the book.

We're sick of the injustice
And not being treated right
And let me give fair warning
We won't give up without a fight.

More than two hundred years ago
We fought for freedom and we won
It seems we're right back where we started
And the battles have just begun.

This deserves a bump, Honest Abe.

Sometimes some of us get ganged up on and there's only so much we can do about it.

Jesus said, "They have their reward!" The big-money looters and their hired thugs who don't have a clue about it... at least not yet. I cannot really pity such criminals too much, however, because of all the unjust misery they have caused and are causing.

You would think it is so easy for them to change for the better---they have so much opportunity in this world---but that has not been the case so far, at least not in our present times.

They have actually gotten worse as to horrible persecutions and vapid rationalizations of that, over the course of the past twenty-some years.

Things must get better somehow.

Easy1 above makes a crucial point.  All things to their appointed time.  Maybe we, as a country, are a collective, John the Baptists.

Nice write Abe.  The red font is great.

It is a shame indeed. When will the leaders open their eyes to truth?

Well done, continue to speak out, dear Del-Abe.

Love,
Margherita
