An ice floe shudders as she melts,
the sun ray bent just past the stick
shoved in to the ground to gauge
an estimate of time too quick.

I'll live to die another day

Tomorrow just might do the trick.

Shuffle up those cards, m'friend;
and stir your beans, they're too damned thick.
I'd like to get some sleep tonight;
I do believe it is your shift.

My lack of trust in you is Hell.
I am too tired to trust myself.

"If you don't stay awake? We die."

Oh-put-the-fire-out. I'm tired.

And cuff your cigarette.

Oh Christ

I really need some sleep tonight--

"I'll haunt you if I die, alright?"

But shoot me if I snore.

Sometimes the people we have to deal with are just much too . . . Oh,excuse me, my friend, I just had a horrible thought. I think you were dealing with yo'self, dere. Don't you let them beans get too thick.

ty, Jer.

(I appreciate you so much--I suspect I creep most people out when I type out my inner conflicts)

a bad mirror? *wince*

I dunno. But I'm glad you're feeling better. I am too, now. *hugs*

You shortened my breath with this one ... I felt your anxiety to the bones!

May you relax and be safe and serene.

Love and hugs.

No explanation needed when you write as creatively as this. my own thoughts swirled as I was reading this and I was wishing I could write like this, no restrictions , no boundaries to thought
I really like this

Karen...I know what you mean about needing sleep, for about 8 months I would sleep maybe 2 hours then be awake for the rest of the night, because of the same thoughts possessing my mind till I thought I was going crazy.
Anyway enough about that, those crazy thoughts might try and make a come back.

Really liked the inner part of you, like a clock we get to see what makes you tick...Paul

Be wary of the weary, I say.

Thanks for reading. And yes, I finally got some sleep.

Maybe I'll try for more tonight.

My love to all, and thanks Ms. E.

I still love to rock. *chuckle* A little more quietly, perhaps, but it's there...thank you.

Your words swirl aroune me when I read your poetry.  I am not sure that I have to understand it - I am captured by it.  That works for me.

Felt like you were dealing with your thoughts, if you were not, surely I've been there and can relate, perhaps putting myself in your place to much?  Regardless, as always a pleasure to read you.

I gave up trying... just resort to the 'pill'. Mostly sleep really well now.

Enjoyed your 'pain', my friend.

The last 2 lines are classic... maybe because I can hear myself saying them? *G*

May the sandman visit and your dreams be sweet... and if he's a no-show? *S* Keep your pen handy. *S*

Welcome, Haf.

This is the companion piece to another I wrote entitled 11:59 a.m.

Thus your observation is rather astute, as I was toying around with a "High Noon" theme, which meandered a bit into some allusion to wars in general. Er. No pun intended. I'm just a meanderthal.

Thanks all for reading...and particular thanks to j.wes, as he inadvertently put another simmering pot on my mind's stove.

My love to all.
