The One

The One who is
near, near, dear
to my heart
Who caresses my words
between the palms of his hands
Who wears scars of
deeds, deaths and lives
on long sleeves to hide
Dark shadows and silhouettes
of  obsessions
Sings melodies of Neil Young
to my tender, open ears
So that I may,
ask nothing
want nothing
require nothing
but desire everything
that is good
that is true
that is love
for his happiness
without me,
unless....

but he cannot.

love this, not sure if written from the heart or poetic licence, but very believable and worth a waiting game, no? On a more flippant note he can't be all bad if he sings Neil Young.juliex

Haha! I hear you and concur with your synopsis that "he cannot." Wonderful give and take, yea and nay about this that I found joyous. Good writing.

Reading this i get the strong impression that you are enticed by the singing of a nonesuch bird in a tree?

Have to agree with naturegirl about the Neil Young, perhaps you have a heart of gold and the miner sings for you?

Enjoyed the read, thank you...

This is very well written, dear Ebonygirl, a perfect reflection of the heart's emotions and expectations, while learning to love unconditionally.

Greatly enjoyed your poem.
