.

A seagull
With outstretched wings
Glides across the blue

Unplanned seen
Through a window
Something not quite surprise
And yet more than
You would have known

Had you not for a moment
Turned from what is usual
Broken absent mindedly
From a path oblivious
Of its end

To gaze without intent
Seeking no riches or miracles
Ah poor traveler half blinded
By years in complacent company
Such treasures are strewn
Across our lives

.

A treasure indeed!  I enjoyed the analytical pondering immensely too – and yes, most company is complacent, but that doesn’t mean that we have to be too, and the more we open our eyes, the more treasures we will see – but then, from your exquisite and finely-crafted poetry, I know that I am preaching to the converted.

What a jewel this is, John. One of those "teasures strewn across our lives."
