I am wrapping
Bright yellow presents
(summer color you know)
Today she turns twenty-two
my shining Leo.
When she blows out her candles
with a silent wish,
my heart will still hear
when she says to herself,
"I wish my mother was here."

For my grandaughter Crystal.

Very sad.

Those wishes never go away... but they do become bearable, especially when we're surrounded by love. This is beautiful and touching!

Heartwrenching in its beauty and sadness, dear Ida.

Crystal's Mother is always close, I am sure, but the longing for a hug on her special day must be oh so intense.

Love your choice of yellow-sunshine gifts.

Love,
Margherita

Ida,

I apologize for being too weak to
respond to this the first time I read
it, as it meant so much to me. My
daughter Krystal lost her grandmother
early in her life, and I can imagine my
daughter making that very wish about her
grandmother at every birthday...in so many
ways, they are so alike.

Thank you.
