He was complete.

He came like the gust of the wind
into our life with smiles
and his cigarettes, the gentleman warrior.

He pondered in wonder the heavens and mankind.
He was Star Light to us moths as he sat with us,
listening to us,
embracing us.

He sailed Gallant Lady across the oceans,
a herculean feat, not know to many to complete,
there, God revealed to him his secret.

Grinning He asked Gus, "What is the meaning of life?
Tell me tomorrow!"
One more smile.
He slipped on his helmet as Steve McQueen would.

He rode onto Angeles Crest Highway.
April 18, 08 at Marker 29.7,
He was complete.

Our Jacob was complete.

This is so moving, and written with a beautiful heart and soul.
Very much enjoyed how you remembered him, and the completeness of it all.

Lovely poem, ebonygirl~

What a very rich poem with darkness overhead. But even through the darkness you see the light which was Jacob. I loved this poem.
