Half Empty

I don’t claim to have the answers
For all life has thrown our way.
For those I do, to me, it occurs
There’s far more left without a say.
But I’ll count each day a blessing –
Let God work His will in me.
No, I won’t spend my time stressing
Over things I’ve yet to see.

For the sun rises in splendor –
Still sets in its golden hue…
Though its majesty can’t render
The beauty I see in you.
Music’s still an inspiration,
Bringing my soul to rejoice;
But never quite with the elation
It would have, shared with your voice.

I can still feel a summer breeze,
Enjoy that first autumn rain…
Allow thoughts of you to appease
That part of me that wells with pain.
I can still partake in laughter,
Feel it deep down in my heart;
Though I know it but came after
You gave the joy in me its start.

Yeah, I know there’s still good out there,
I pray there’s good left in me to.
But nothing I’ve seen can compare
To the good I’ve shared with you.
Without you life misses meaning.
The glass, half full, doesn’t deceive.
Life’s answers, alone, mean nothing
When it’s only in “us” I believe.

Michael Anderson

Like one that on a lonesome road
Doth walk in fear and dread,
And having once turned round walks on,
And turns no more his head...

This is a gut wrencher, Michael...
and you do it too well.

Hard to take poetry,Michael, and believe me I quite understand.

When the ending verse broke my heart, I returned to the first verse and the hope that lies nestled in it.

Gut wrencher it is... I was wiping tears... but I've never read a more sincere or beautiful expression of love.
