When I saw your smile today
I was somewhat surprised
the amount of time now past

so many years

yes, to me the memories seem new
and I do apologize for that

but I will not apologize for loving you…

and remembering those short days
and I am missing them too…

me?oh, I guess being a coward is safe
so I write words to you and keep them tucked in my heart…

each evening before sleep can start
I say a prayer for you.

I thank God allowing me that time to know you,
albeit a breath of time in short days…

my thoughts and much more,

When I saw your smile today…

I can think of so many who would appreciate
receiving such a note,
so many more who could have written it.

Well done, JL. Thank you for sharing.

Wow... this sure tugs at the heart strings.  Your emotion shows pure and flows elegantly.  Beautiful words, my friend.

Dallas is where I had this exact kind of deal. Her name was Virginia.

Nicely written poetry . . .

I'm in line with the comments of "very nicely written, and well don's," and all the rest. This flat-out touched me.
