Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2011-08-04 08:25 AM

At last the rain
has come
The pattering sound
is sweet repeat
upon the dawn
Thunder murmurs low
amid gentle cascades
bringing blessed relief
to thirsting ground
and oppressive heat
The parched earth drinks
deep within it cracks
Trees drawing long drafts
to fill their wilted leaves
Flowers bob happy wet heads
in the summer shower
Dust settled
washed away and gone
The air is cool and clean
this rainy summer dawn.

Oh, I'm blessing the rain...

it was this one rare strange
small little gray cloud
that looked as if needed a soul
to expose.

Yeah, we had that kind of a July, Lori, to the point where everyone was complaining. I told them it won't last, better enjoy it while you can. It is here now. No rain. Hot sun. Congratulations on you over there getting some of the wet stuff, your words in this poem are what poetry is supposed to be about. Very, very nicely done . . .

~ If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong. ~

Jerry, feels like a fever has broken and will revel in the healing.

Your poem is as refreshing as a cool rain after a long dry spell, Lori.
