Into these blue shades I seep
venturing out from these four walls
is an exercise in heartbreak

roaming the streets
missing them before I go
leaving the friends I haven't told.

Leaning out the window on Benediktska
glancing at the beautiful women
walking below.

and as the Eastern world ends its sleep
waking to a new day
in the half of the world I have not seen yet

a German drunken tourist passes bellow
outside my window
grunting, yelling, screaming

not so different from any other night

in Praha 1.
A woman I once loved
still care about,
dances 200 meters from where I lay.

Disappointed that I'm not going to see her tonight
not knowing I'm hiding
not knowing my upcoming flight.

And tomorrow, to sing
with a new prospective girlfriend
and my komrad dj

they know not either
what will they say?

Doors shut here
in bureaucratic melody
a traveler wanting to stay,
becomes a cacophony.

Hiding from the moonlight
searching for the promise of a new home, a new hope
half a world and 6,000 miles away.

I particularly love the second verse... goodbyes are no less poignant because they're unspoken. Very touching!

I think, after reading you several times, I, almost, live in paradise.

Thanks for letting us see with your eyes, my friend.

Though an exercise in heartbreak, I believe you won't regret going out and saying your silent and eventually spoken goodbyes to Prague, the city you love so much.  Lovely sensitive poem.
