it was if your street was one way
not easy to come back from
after coming within your vicinity
even with the crowds around
to hide my dishonorable intentions

you still looked me up and down
and made sure I did the same
searching your bronze for copper
and you kept it simmering wet
just enough for ripples to show

knowing I would touch each one
and polish it with glancing blows
always falling face forward after
into those clever indentations
where you said you kept salvation

and sweet flavored concoctions too
that your imagination had harvested
using every asset at your disposal
and some that were just inside you
waiting just to become acquainted

when my mind was in your neighborhood
