It was Charlotte Bronte, I believe,
that once started a poem with
something like:

“There's no use in weeping,
for we are (all) condemned to part”

and a Chinese poet who said …

"candles too must hate parting,
for they can shed more permanent
tears that may linger far longer"

too all … a fond Adieu ... write on !

        weaver of "Deep-Time" tapestries,
        and purveyor of (second-hand) dreams

This sounds rather final, Bruce. I hope you are not leaving us. Reading your poetry is a great pleasure for me.

There is far too much of an unbridgeable, chasmic dichotomy between the world of cold,
hard 'reality' and that of my "Romantic Idealism" ... enough 'smoke and mirrors,' methinks?! ...
the 'magic' of words paint the grandest illusions ... likely, I have nothing left to say.
Many thanks to those who have been most kind enough to 'listen' at all!

Wow, did I miss the gist of this?  Seems I may have, after reading the comments of others...if so, I too, will miss you my friend.

I've always enjoyed your company.

Dear Bruce,

I hope this is only a hiatus and that you are
well and healthy and just taking a little
vacation from writing
for the moment.

I have enjoyed your poetry, and will miss
seeing you...

Be well, my friend. Take care of you.

thanks all ! ...

there just doesn't seem to be much 'point' to doing my 'word-painted' imagining anymore ...
especially amid this double-post-modern "Runaway American Dream" corporate mediocracy.

Don't let them get you down,
my dear friend.

This is when we need to write
our heart for our art...

I know it's painful out "there"...
that's when you need to bring you
vast wisdom in "here".

Nothing will ever change for the better if we let the beautiful die.  Your word paintings are beautiful and they touch more people than you can know. The "system," has killed enough in its time.  Please don't add your poetry to the list.  In any case, if nothing else, it enables you to see your heart in words.  Some of us need that regardless of how many actually read it.

If a heart lies unexpressed it is a slow, slow, death.  No person let alone poet should allow that.

Sorry if this comes over as bit too strong but with my limited time on the internet now I must just call it as I see it.

My best to you.

In the last while, I haven't been in Pip except to reply to responses to my poems, and to reply to Martie's poem about the loss of her doggy, Precious, and her pain and the pain of her kitty, Needful, so I missed this poem.  Having read it, and Desiderium Part 2, I have to say I am glad you aren't going.  We all need your exquisite poetry and Pip would be so much poorer for the loss of it.
