been raining in Thibodaux
for weeks
intermittently raining
every day

I like rain
rather I used to like rain
but this July, 2011
rain startin' to bother me

see, the air here has turned
thick and syrupy
hard to breathe
overcast all the time

even when it isn't raining
humidity is so thick
it clings to women's clothing
shaping breasts prominently

I look yes I do, but
even that can get old
I'm beginning to have a
cauldron of an attitude

it never stops
even when it isn't raining
it looks like rain
gloomy, dark days

never been through anything like this
this . . . constant
rain forest kinda weather
uneasiness kind of weather

wake up each morning
swimming in slime
at least that's how it feels
clingingness, like a stalker

I think I know what it is to die
they say
ego is the last part of the organism
to go

that's what ghosts are
really, honest its true
ghosts are dead egos
how about that

the rain
rain, rain, rain
getting to me
upsetting how I think

at night I see my dead egos
so I guess that old saying
that egos are the last to die
uh, or maybe not . .

Bayou blues again
my friend?
I feel your pain,
we're not insane.

Bayou blues, you got it, Lori. That and these damn shingles AND withdrawal from all the friggin' pain pills. Whoop-de-do!

Well, if I didn't know better I'd think you were writing about Central Florida.  Everything there is slimy from the humidity, even without rain.  Believe me, I've felt this exasperation before.

"honest its true
ghosts are dead egos
how about that"

That line intrigued me.  I think you're dead on in that assessment.

Good write.

Let's be grateful it didn't rain on the cotton crops in Texas.

I like your poem very much and especially the originality of the lines,
"I'm beginning to have a
cauldron of an attitude"

Appreciate the thoughts, Michael. Louisiana isn't that far away from Florida, its all swamps paved over.

JerryPat2,
Enjoyed your poem.
I've never felt rain and weather like that but you sure did make me feel as if I was in the middle of it.

I feel for you, It is very seldom humid here (hot but not humid) so I had never really experienced that kind of humidity until I took a trip to Dallas, Texas, a few years ago. It was awful. I was only there three days but it felt much longer.

Yeah, I used to live in Dallas, and as bad as it got there it can't hold a candle to south Louisiana. Thank you for stopping by and commenting, I surely appreciate it.

Stand naked (in the dark of course)of it's fall, my friend.  Mother Nature has her own way of cleansing, of easing the mind, of making one whole again within one's self.

Awesome write.

Wouldn't you know it, j, I posted this poem yesterday and today it is sunny.  Thank you for the advice, and I might try the getting naked, I could get away with it around here.

Fine writing, Jerry. I can relate to that kind of weather, it as been that sort of weather here almost all my life.

“at night I see my dead egos
so I guess that old saying
that egos are the last to die
uh, or maybe not”

Like these lines.

"The secret behind survival of mankind is kindness and love within our hearts"

I'd be plum loco if I was raised in this kind of weather. But maybe not, if that was was all I knew, it was be "normal."

Thank you, Prasad, for stopping by to read and commit.

LOL... Being a native of Louisiana, I was raised in that kind of weather... and might well be plum loco. LOL But just across the border, we're getting all the humidity but none of the rain... send some across the Sabine, please! *S*

I can't suthern, it has finally left here and were I do not know. The same ones who were bitchin' about the rain are now bitchin' about the sun and the heat, like they are surprised there would be heat in SUMMERTIME!
