My full size bed is definitely big enough for the two of us, but to be honest, I wouldn’t mind if, in a moment like this, it were smaller. A twin size bed would do. It would give us an excuse to lay as close as possible together… not that we need an excuse. It’s 1:00 AM and we’re awake doing what we’re usually doing when we’re together; kissing, cuddling… just getting closer. But tonight it’s different. Tonight I have to say what’s on my mind before my head explodes from keeping such a secret. As I lay in his arms, I lift my head and stare straight into his eyes. I’m sort of “searching his soul” for some reassurance that I won’t regret sharing my secret with him. Before I can completely find what I’m looking for, he replies to my stare with a playful, “What?” I, of course, reply with an innocent, “Nothing…” and look away. That only lasts about thirty seconds, though, before I’m staring at him again. He definitely knows that something is on my mind, so he asks me again, “What are you thinking about?” I admit to him that I have something on my mind but that I can’t tell him what it is. It is obvious to me that he desperately wants to hear what I’m thinking, but I can’t bring myself to say it. It is never the right time to say something that you know could possibly change everything for the worse. So I keep quiet for a while but he still politely begs me to tell him. I take his shirt off with the hope of helping him think of something other than what’s on my mind. He proceeds to remove my shirt as well. I am sitting on his lap, my legs to either side of him, and my close to his face. I lean in and give him a soft kiss.“This oughtta change the subject for a while…”, I think silently to myself. But he whispers, “Tell me your secret!” I refuse to speak, yet again. At this point, it is getting very warm in my room. We put our shirts back on and venture into my living room to cool down… And this is where the magic happens. He sits on the couch and I cuddle up next to him with a blanket around me. I nervously move from leaning on his shoulder, to resting my head in his lap, to sitting back up and staring into his eyes once more. He asks me a few more times for me to tell him what’s on my mind and each time I reply with a sort of whiney, “I can’t…” or an, “I’m scared…” He then says exactly what I need him to say. He looks at me and says, “Can you please tell me OUR secret?” I lift my eyes to meet his, (inside I am shocked) and I question his words. “Our secret?”, I ask. He goes on to say that he thinks my secret is probably the same secret he has. It is silent for a moment between us while my mind processes the fact that he even has a secret. I finally decide to start speaking my mind. I ask, “Do you remember that one night when we were house-sitting for Vic and you told me that there was nothing that I could say to you that would scare you away?” He replies that yes, he remembers that. I ask nervously, “Is that still true?” He assures me that yes, it is still true. So I suck up my nerves and say something along the lines of, “Well… I don’t know… Just lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about you… and about us… And…” I pause. I look away and softly say, “I’ve just been feeling love for you lately…” He grabs me and says, “What did you just say? You muttered the last half of that sentence!” I become very nervous inside, but I’m not sure if he can tell. I sigh and repeat, “I’ve been feeling love for you lately…” He grabs my face and gives me the sweetest most sincere kiss I’ve ever felt. The kiss says to me everything that I need to know, but he tells me with words anyway. “I’ve been feeling love for you too.”

Smiling at this revelation, Amber. It's beautiful.

A slight critique...had this been broken up into paragraphs, it would have been easier for me to read - but I'm old.

Truly, a charming insight. Here's to hoping it was not a fantasy write.

If you have enough monkeys banging away on a typewriter . . .

It’s pretty much the same with guys and bed.

Except for the fact that it was difficult for me to trad (the lines re s-o-o-o long) I made my way through it because you pulled the oldest trick in the book, and that was someone had a secret. Hoe could you not read to find out what it was. Enjoyable.

Thanks, guys! Sorry for the format.. I just kind of wrote and posted, no more thought than that! Not something I usually do. But I'll keep that in mind for next time! :-)

Hey Amber.
You repetedly continue to astound me in a repetitive way.
I got so caught up in the story or fantasy you momentarily too ke to another place and left me in this chair with a smile.
Yes, as long as it is among the closest of best friends, as long is there is complete honesty, complete trust, and a bond of love that is deeper and stronger than all the ages.
And the special privacy of a very special secret treasured above all, together.
